Leveraging Desktop Virtualization for Security, Manageability and Usability Beyond the Perimeter
Kevin Brown's Virtualization Session at SYS-CON's Virtualization Conference & Expo 2007 West

Digg This!

Desktop virtualization is a need-to-know technology for 2008 that has transformed the way organizations handle complex desktop computing challenges:

  • Provided hardware independence, enabling support for legacy applications while embracing new standards
  • Simplified desktop management, reducing operational risk and support costs
  • Promoted security and data confidentiality using encryption and leak prevention techniques
  • Enhanced mobility and disaster recovery planning, enabling employees to access corporate applications and data from anywhere, without requiring server farm and enabling access even when disconnected from the network
In this session Kevin Brown introduced desktop virtualization technologies, presented real enterprise use cases, and explained the challenges addressed when applying these solutions in corporate IT environments.

Speaker Bio: Kevin Brown is President & CEO of Kidaro. Prior to joining Kidaro, heserved on the original executive team of storage security firm Decru, where he led worldwide marketing, business development, and product management. Brown helped the company achieve #1 market share and global adoption across the financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, and government sectors. Following the $272 million acquisition of Decru by Network Appliance, Brown was named to the Network Appliance Information Governance Board, where he helped shape the company's policies relating to compliance, security, and intellectual property protection.

Previously, Brown was a key member of the founding team of Inktomi, a pioneering infrastructure software firm, where he served in a number of executive positions, including Vice President and General Manager of Inktomi's networking business. He's a Fellow at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and earned his Bachelor's and MBA degrees at UC Berkeley.
