Growing Up With The Berenstain Bears Opens at The Children's Museum of Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jan. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Growing Up With The Berenstain Bears stops at The Children's Museum of Memphis January 27-May 13, 2007. The traveling exhibit is based on the well-known books by the same name, The Berenstain Bears. Visitors meet Mama, Papa, Brother and Sister Bear as they explore the fun and engaging environments.

Walk beyond the famous Tree House front door to find the Bear's living room where kids play the "When I Grow Up" game and imagine what the future holds, what they will look like, and what opportunities await. Children role- play in the kitchen by doing things for themselves and helping each other. The exhibit has immersive environments based on the classic Berenstain illustrations of Bear Country: Tree House Kids Bedroom, Kitchen and Living Room; Bear Country School Classroom and Playground; Skull Rock; and Disheveled Shack.

The Berenstains' based the storylines on their parental experiences with their own children Leo and Mike, and later, their grandchildren. Published in 1962, the first Bear book (The Big Honey Hunt) became the catalyst which propelled more than 40 years of stories that have entertained generations of kids, while still teaching the life lessons that are the hallmarks of the Berenstain Bears series: self-discovery, taking on responsibility within family and community, and personal growth.

Growing Up With The Berenstain Bears is included with museum admission. The exhibit was developed by the Lied Discovery Children's Museum, Las Vegas, in collaboration with the authors Stan and Jan Berenstain. It is presented in both English and Spanish. Locally the exhibit is sponsored by the Assisi Foundation of Memphis, Inc. Media sponsor is Comcast Spotlight.

A special guest appearance by Michael Berenstain, son of Stan and Jan Berenstain, is scheduled for January 27.
